FFL Services

Ibex Armament offers convenient FFL services for firearms and NFA items!

We are pleased to offer FFL Transfer services for those purchasing a firearm and requiring it to be shipped. We will transfer firearms and NFA items. We conditionally allow transfer of firearms from out-of-state private citizens, whereas many FFL dealers will not.

We charge $20.00 USD for the background check and paperwork required to transfer one (1) firearm. If you intend on transferring a second firearm, we will process this on the same ATF Form 4473 and give you the second firearm transfer for only $10.00 USD.

We will assist you in the transfer of NFA items, such as suppressors, short-barreled rifles, pre-1986 automatics, etc. The price for transfer of one (1) NFA item is $50.00 USD.

You will be required to present valid photo ID that has your current address at the time of purchase.

You must verify if the item you intend to transfer requires a Minnesota permit to purchase or concealed carry permit. If your purchase requires a permit-to-purchase/concealed carry permit, the address must match your ID. Most sporting shotguns and hunting rifles do not require the above. Per the Assault Weapons Ban, only residents of Minnesota may purchase handguns or “assault” weapons. Typically the AWB defines any firearm with a detachable magazine and at least two of certain other characteristics as an assault weapon.

The following are considered characteristics that make a rifle an “assault” weapon.

  • Telescoping stock
  • Pistol grip
  • Bayonet mount
  • Grenade launcher
  • Flash suppressor

The following are considered characteristics that make a shotgun an “assault” weapon.

  • Telescoping stock
  • Pistol grip
  • A capacity to hold more than five rounds

You must ask your out-of-state dealer if they have our FFL on file. If they do not, email us with your dealer’s contact information, as well as information pertaining to your order such as order number and items purchased. We will then send our FFL information to your dealer so we can begin the process.

We will process transfers of firearms from private, out-of-state citizens, though many FFLs will not. When transferring a firearm from an individual, rather than a dealer, make sure the shipper includes a photocopy of their state ID in the shipment, as well as your name and contact information. Ibex Armament LLC is not responsible for package damage or loss, and as such we recommend insurance on your shipped item. Per the Child Safety Lock Act of 2005, a lockable case or gun lock (trigger lock or cable lock) must be present at the time of sale of a handgun. If there is no lock present for a private sale, plan on purchasing one, as handguns must be sold with a locking device.

When you transfer a firearm with us, it will typically be available for pick-up one business day after it arrives.

Firearms sent to us, and subsequently transferred will remain in our possession until your background check and paperwork clear. If you are not cleared for transfer, you are responsible for the cost of shipping your item back to the seller. Transferred items not picked-up three (3) months after paperwork and background check clearance are forfeited to Ibex Armament LLC.
